第四季开始删支线，第五季出恶果以后，观感上还是可以的，起码到第六季时各方面还没问题，真正完全崩溃是第七季，HBO不愿意增加太多总预算，那为了拍摄内容，只能砍剧集数，然后结果就是我们看到的一集飞维斯特洛大陆的传送，然后各种意义上的赶，许多角色神隐。实际上如果按照前几季每季度十级，就算删减支线剧情，起码在主线观感也不会太难看。到了第八季这个问题更突显了，甚至把应该是最终决战的黎明之战草率处理。
但凡看过电影或者玩过游戏的，我感觉都应该会希望跟异鬼的战斗是最终战而不是第一战，更别说很多剧情细节没解释，异鬼和光之王的敌对关系等等。
小说如果放在前面，起码还有大量的支线与文字暗示可以解答读者疑问，但电视剧这样搞就太气人了
