“Silly,” what a choice of word. The dismissiveness, the tone-deafness says so much about the IOC and its utter lack of any moral compass. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-11-30/olympics-official-defends-peng-shuai-call-calls-critics-silly

I would be very interested to see the evidence which IOC base their “quiet diplomacy” approach on. There’s actually a lof of research, experience and evidence that show the opposite of what they claim here. And worse: that it can be counterproductive.

Women hold up “half the sky” according to Mao, but they make up 1/25 of the Politburo and 0% of the Politburo Standing Committee. If CCP believes #PengShuai case could spark broader collective mobilization, its modus operandi is to shut discussion down.

Annie Kowalewski|梁安妮: ”While the patriarchal nature of Chinese society is well known, Ms. Peng’s case is the rare, revelatory moment that exposes how much China’s all-male rulers depend on the subjugation of women to ensure the Communist Party’s longevity.”

How to show a leader is greater than any others in one sentence:

X (name) solved X (adjective: tricky, thorny) problems/issues that X (name: other leaders or the enemy state) X (adverb: desperately, always) wanted to solve but couldn’t X (adverb: ever, correctly) solve.
