Re With two randomized experiments, we find that firms do not reward job candidates for expressing conformity to regime ideology. Expressing support for “Socialism with Chinese Characteristics” on a resume does not increase employer callbacks.

Re What types of firms are most likely to penalize non-conformity? Exploratory analysis suggests it’s firms designated as CCP strategic priorities with high innovation requirements (e.g., AI, 5G, biotech, new energy, smart/nanomaterials, geospatial tech).
