Some popular guesses were after the Party Congress or the introduction of locally made mRNA vaccines ( as Beijing sees vaccine production as national pride and soft power). None of these predictions were right. Instead, it was after a series of A4 protests.

Plus, no mRNA vaccines for ordinary Chinese made it worse. We know it’s more effective in combating the pandemic. But China refuses to adopt foreign-invented ones; instead, they want to make their own but fail to do so. They gambled people’s lives and they lost.

Anyone who reports to PRC/HK authorities and puts the people speaking up against these regimes at risk should be arrested and prosecuted.
